An Evening of Inspiration with LT Big Brother NL
On the evening of September 18th, we gathered in the heart of Amsterdam for the first and therefore very special LT Big Brother NL community meetup. It was wonderful to welcome an interested and engaged group of people who came together not only to connect but also to reflect on the power of mentorship and shared experience.
The evening’s highlight was an inspiring conversation with author Rasa Sage, who generously shared her journey – including her failures, the sources of her inspiration, and the practices that help her keep moving forward. Her openness sparked meaningful discussion among participants and reminded us that mentorship is as much about honesty and vulnerability as it is about guidance and professional growth.
This meetup was another step in building a consistent space for Lithuanian professionals in the Netherlands to come together, exchange experiences, and explore how the LT Big Brother program can strengthen our journeys – whether we are climbing career ladders, changing professional directions, or simply looking for connection and inspiration abroad.
A big thank you to the LT Big Brother team in Vilnius for their continuous support, and a heartfelt thank you to my lovely, inspiring colleague Aušra, who always has my back and makes any gatherings run smoothly.
For me personally, this evening was also a reminder of the deeper value of mentorship. It is not only about sharing knowledge or professional advice, but about walking alongside someone in moments of change, doubt, or aspiration. Just as important is the sense of community and connection that forms around these encounters - knowing that you are not alone, that others have walked similar paths, and that together we can support and inspire one another. Mentorship creates space for trust, courage, and new perspectives, but it is the community that sustains this growth and makes it meaningful. In that exchange, both the mentor and the mentee - and indeed the whole community - have the chance to grow. This is why I believe so strongly in continuing to build and nurture our LT Big Brother community here in the Netherlands.
